Mile’s Story

I didnt know trans people existed until I was 15 I think. A friend of mine showed me a musically of a trans guy and explained what it was. I remember thinking that I would love to be able to do that because I hated being a girl. Not too long after that this same friend reached out to me and asked me if I wanted to go by a different name and pronouns and I said yes. I came out to my friends that same day.

I put off telling my dad for a long time. When I did I wrote him a letter then went to a high school dance with my at the time boyfriend. I came back and nothing was said except “just because you’re a tomboy doesn’t mean your trans.” I put off telling anyone else for awhile.

I came out to my teachers one by one and got the support I needed from them. My choir teacher at the time helped me gain the courage to tell my mom. I told her through a Facebook message on my way to school. She responded with nothing but love and support. Her mom was bisexual growing up so she’s never had a problem with the LGBTQIA+ community. After awhile she even talked to my dad and stepmom and told them I wasn’t lying. Now my whole family is supportive, as well as my current spouse's family. I’m currently 20 almost 21 and I’ve been on T for 5 months. I eventually want to get top surgery.
